Sejiro Avoseh was born in 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria. He received his National Diploma at the Lagos State Polytechnic in 2010, his Higher National Diploma programme in 2013, and subsequently his MA at the University for the Creative Arts, Canterbury, UK.
Avoseh’s vantage foregrounds his Nigerian heritage, the oppression he experienced in his home country, and the subsequent challenges of adapting to a foreign nation that effectively colonized his birthplace. Thrust into a state of limbo since emigrating to Canterbury, England in 2021, questions of alienation and belonging have thus risen to the foreground in his practice.
