Family Ties March 31 - May 11, 2024 Jupiter is thrilled to present 'Family Ties', a solo exhibition by New York-based Haitian-American artist Milo Matthieu. 'Family Ties' continues the artist’s longtime practice of translating his cultural legacy into contemporary terms by drawing upon the rich artistic history of his family heritage, in particular the Haitian paintings and African masks that populated his childhood home. Following his inclusion in the 2023 group exhibitions 'Gimme Shelter' and 'Caribbean Revels', this will be Matthieu’s first solo exhibition with the gallery and will be closely followed by Jupiter's presentation of his work at Independent New York from May 9-12, 2024. The Enemy of my Enemy October 16 - November 19, 2022 Jupiter is pleased to present 'The Enemy of My Enemy', an exhibition of new and never-before-seen paintings and sculptures by New York-based painter Elbert Perez, which highlight the artist’s visual lexicon that is both representational and otherworldly. Grounded in Buddhist philosophy of desire, Christian doctrines of heaven and hell, and twenty-first century coping mechanisms suggested by the artist’s therapist, the exhibition presents an uncanny juxtaposition of subjects and motifs that rather wittily elucidate the harbingers of an anxious mind. A Rose is Still a Rose August 27 - October 8, 2022 JUPITER is proud to introduce Dylan Rose Rheingold, a New York-based artist whose work enterprises on celebrating cultural diversity and personal storytelling. Attempting to normalize cultural differences, Rheingold seeks inspiration from sources such as American folk and outsider art in addition to her own cultural background. As the daughter of a first-generation Japanese-American mother and a Jewish-American father, Rheingold uses family history as sources of inspiration for her work, often seeking out familial archives and anecdotes of which to devise artistic relationships from, although, she is also known to use anonymous photographs found in antique books and magazines to accumulate subjects for her work.
